Detailed description of Aberdeen Country Club
Aberdeen Country Club is a Semi-Private, 27 hole golf course facility in Longs, South Carolina. The facility has three 9-hole course, The Highlands Nine, The Meadows Nine and The Woodlands Nine. Each of the Nines on this Scottish links-style course play to a par 36.
Aberdeen Country Club first opened for play in 1990. The course(s) were designed by Tom Jackson.
Formally known as “Buck Creek,” the course was nominated by Golf Digest as “America’s Best New Course for 1990.” This 27-hole tract is tucked among hardwoods along the Waccamaw River. It features extensive mounding, wide landing areas and bent grass greens, and presents a different feel, look and challenge on each nine.

B. Moderately difficult 18-hole combination: Meadows/Woodlands
C. Most difficult 18-hole combination: Woodlands/Highlands

I played Aberdeen Country Club on 6-1-10, as part of a tournament.
Aberdeen Country Club is not too tough, but there are plenty of challenges (note the water comment from the earlier rater). Conditions when I played were not good, especially on the greens, which were lumpy and bumpy with MANY semi-bare spots. We routinely saw putts change direction every few inches along the way to the vicinity of the hole. Course is well-marked, so no excuse for the wrong club...although the sea level air is much heavier than I, for one, am accustomed to. Take at least one extra club on almost every shot.
Aberdeen is a nice neighborhood course, but not one that I'd put on the top of my list for a golf trip to a resort area. Staff is very nice, and most helpful.
If you are vacationing in MB, and need a down day, you might try this course.

This course is a hidden gem. The greens were like velvet, rolling true to the core. Conditions were lush—better conditions than any expensive course on the Grand Strand. With the Prime Time Honors Card it cost us $37. I can't wait to play it again. It will be sooner than later.
